SUCKER PUNCH ROCKETS TO #1 AT THE AUSTRALIAN BOX OFFICE

Australian audiences have demonstrated their love for cult director Zack Snyder, with his film Sucker Punch claiming the #1 spot at the Australian Box Office on opening day (Thursday April 7) taking in an impressive $375,344 (estimated).

National Marketing Manager of Roadshow Films, Phil O’Niel said, “We are excited about this movie, and to be number 1 on opening day demonstrates Australian audiences are embracing concepts that push the boundaries of modern film. We look forward to the films continued success throughout its theatrical season.”

Sucker Punch was created by renowned director Zack Snyder, whose repertoire of visual masterpieces include 300, Watchemen and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.

The film stars Aussies Emily Browning (The Uninvited) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless), alongside Jena Malone (Into the Wild), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), and Jamie Chung (Sorority Row).

Sucker Punch takes you into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream-world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.
